About the D9320 Message Forum

At the request of a few Rotarians there is now a Message Forum available for the use of District 9320 Rotarians. Initially, it is presented on a trial basis to gauge whether or not there really is a demand for it. If it proves to be useful then it will be retained - otherwise it will be scrapped.

For those not familiar with Message Forums (aka Message Boards, Internet Forums, Bulletin Boards) they allow visitors to view the existing contents and consist of a group of contributors who've registered into the system, known as members. The members submit topics for discussion (known as threads) and communicate with each other using publicly visible messages (known as posts).

In the case of District 9320, Rotarians can post questions (and replies) of general Rotary interest, exchange and comment on ideas for projects or any other Rotary related matter. How you use the forum is entirely up to you.

Initially (in the interests of simplicity) the D9320 forum is open to all and sundry and requires no registration in order to become a contributing member (how's that for naivety and optimism?). However, if this results in any form of abuse of the system, then the situation will be reviewed.

The D9320 Message Forum allows the visitor to switch between two different views. Try each one to see how they display.

bullet Board Style displays a list of all topics (or threads) along with an indication of how many views and replies each topic has received. Clicking on a topic will present the visitor with a detailed view of that topic, along with any responses to it.
bullet Threaded Style presents the visitor with a list of all topic subjects, accompanied by a header for each reply. Clicking on a specific topic or one of its replies will then display just that topic or reply.

A member may post a new topic (thread), or reply to any existing topic or one of the replies. Remember, initially, any visitor is automatically a member without having to register.

Options available at some or all of our forum pages are:-

bullet Switch to Board or Threaded Style
bullet Return to Website - takes you back to the D9320 web home page
bullet Post - enables you to post a new topic (thread)
bullet Reply - enables you to post a reply to a particular topic or reply
bullet Home - returns you to the forum home page (not to the D9320 home page)
bullet Forward and back navigation buttons
bullet A forum search facility

When you initiate a post or a reply you will be asked for your name, club and email address. The forum administratorreserves the right to delete any anonymous posts.Remember - your post will be visible not only to D9320 Rotarians but to the whole Internet. So please check your post very carefully before submitting it. Once posted, there is no mechanism for you to edit or delete it. It's there for the world to see - typos, spelling, grammar, warts and all.

Message Forums operate according to some basic and obvious guidelines, and ours is no different.

bullet First and foremost - follow the Rotary 4-Way Test (which pretty well covers the following....)
bullet No swearing or otherwise vulgar language
bullet No insulting or harassing fellow members
bullet No advertising or spam
bullet No double posting
bullet No copyright infringements
bullet Do not resurrect dead threads

Again, the forum administrator reserves the right to delete any posts that contravene these guidelines.

Any particularly interesting posts may be noted in the D9320 web's What's New page.

If you have any questions or comments regarding the D9320 Message Forum please post a topic on it - that's why it's there. Or, if really necessary, contact the forum administrator.
