PROSPECTIVE GSE TEAM LEADERS

A Team Leader Application form may be downloaded from the RI website.
Only current forms will be accepted. 

NB: Recommendations for Team Leaders must be submitted by Rotary Clubs, not by individual Rotarians. They are required to be endorsed by the Club President and Secretary, and also by the Assistant Governor.

Qualifications of Team Leaders:-

bullet
Experienced Rotarian, knowledgeable about The Rotary Foundation
bullet
Well informed on South Africa / Lesotho and Rotary in District 9320.
bullet
Previous District involvement an advantage but not essential.
bullet
Possession of interpersonal communication skills.
bullet
Ability to relate to young people and act as adviser and counsellor.
bullet
Possession of physical ability to keep up with the programme.
bullet
Proficiency in the major language of the host district.
bullet
NOTE: Rotarians who will be serving as a Club President at the time of the exchange are not eligible.

 

Responsibilities and Duties of Team Leaders:-

Represent the District Governor.
bullet
Assume complete charge of the team.
bullet
Not be accompanied by spouse, companion, fiancé or other relative.
bullet
Assist team members with preparation of presentations.
bullet
Take an active role in the team’s pre-departure orientation.
bullet
Acquaint team members with the purpose of the GSE programme.
bullet
Imbue the team with a sense of mission.
bullet
Build a well-informed and cohesive group.
bullet
Act as liaison between team members and district, clubs and hosts.
bullet
Remain with the team for the duration of the study tour.
bullet Ensure that all necessary documentation and reports are completed timeously by the team members before and after the trip.

 

Please ensure that the above requirements are understood when making your recommendation. These “qualifications” are more fully set out in the application form and should be fully understood and complied with by the applicant and the nominating club.

TEAM LEADER APPLICATION FORMS

A Team Leader Application form may be downloaded from the RI website. Only current forms will be accepted. If you have any difficulty in downloading a form please contact  the District 9320 GSE Chair by email or phone and he will fax a blank form to you. An addendum may be attached to the application if the space provided under the various headings is insufficient.

ASSISTANT GOVERNOR’S ENDORSEMENT

Clubs which submit Team Leader Applications are requested to send a copy of the relevant application/s to their Assistant Governor at the same time as the originals are either posted or faxed to the District 9320 GSE Chair for his/her perusal and endorsement. Assistant Governors are requested to personally vet all applications and independently submit their comments on the applicant to the District 9320 GSE Chair. This can be done by email, fax or telephone, and applies to all applications.
